Non-invasive fetal diagnostic tests, sequencing the fetal DNA in the mother's blood, are now being used in the US to predict Down Syndrome and other 'major' genetic anomalies. It is claimed that they only fail 0.5% of the time as opposed to 5% when using amniocentesis. There is nothing wrong with the technology itself, but it is worrying how easily this technology could justify termination.
